The only convincing argument I’ve seen for a larger smartphone. Good for elephants.

I really enjoyed your recent file systems podcasts. Hearing the “but why should should we care?” retorts made me recall Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs bio, where he often mentioned one of Jobs’ guiding principles (from his father): the importance of crafting the back of the fence/cabinet properly, even if people don’t see it.
Anyone who’s seen an iFixit Teardown of an Apple product can see this holds true for their hardware internals. HFS+ however, is woefully bodged and neglected.
And as John mentioned, modern marketable OS features like Time Machine (and Versions) could be engineered much more elegantly with an up-to-date file system under the hood.
"— A comment I sent in to Hypercritical regarding their recent file systems podcasts (#56, #57). It didn’t make it into the follow up (I may have been too late) but I thought it was interesting.
